Paris: Impr. de A. Delalain, 1819. Second edition. 2 volumes. Complete. Contemporary full leather bindings with gilt to burgundy labels. The bindings are a little rubbed, but still sound. Volume I deals with quadrupeds, viviparous and oviparous, Reptiles and Fish. Volume II with Birds and insects. Pages and plates are clean and tidy, with just a little darkening. 22 plates contain 174 figures, across the two volumes (13 in volume I and 9 in Volume 2). The 1st edition appeared in 1799, without Buffon's name, under the title "Leçons d'histoire naturelle." 16, 276., 12, 420 pages. 170 by 100mm (6¾ by 4 inches). . Deuxième édition. 2 volumes. Complets. Reliures contemporaines en plein cuir avec étiquettes dorées sur fond bordeaux. Les reliures sont un peu frottées, mais restent saines. Le volume I traite des quadrupèdes, vivipares et ovipares, des reptiles et des poissons. Le volume II traite des oiseaux et des insectes. Les pages et les planches sont propres et nettes, avec juste un petit assombrissement. 22 planches contiennent 174 figures, réparties sur les deux volumes (13 dans le volume I et 9 dans le volume 2). La première édition est parue en 1799, sans le nom de Buffon, sous le titre "Leçons d'histoire naturelle". 16, 276. 12, 420 pages. 170 x 100 mm
