""History of Lincs"" in gilt to compartment two of spine. 9.75ins x 6ins (Large paper copy), [iv], pps 523 to 808, 13pp book list , 16pp index to volume 9, 1pp corrections, 6pp index for Lincolnshire plus 7pp plates and a coloured folding map. Under the heading Advertisement, the publishers explain that they have recently purchased the remaining stock of the series entitled ""The Beauties of England and Wales"" and are now offering it as seperate counties. There is foxing to some of the plates with that of Grantham church being the most affected. The map, whilst attractive, almost certainly is not the one referred to on the title page. This one was engraved by Pickett for C.Smith, 172 Strand. Carroll in ""Printed Maps of Lincolnshire"" indicates that this is probably a 1828 edition being a reduced version of that produved in 1801.
