About This Item

London New York Toronto: Longmans, Green & Co, 1955. First Edition, Second Printing. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Fine/Near Fine. John Minton. 8vo. Pp. 185. Bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering on spine. In the color-illustrated dust jacket, fine but for being price-clipped. A novel by the nephew of W. Somerset Maugham in which a London-based film studio factor is dispatched to Tanganyika to negotiate with a writer. The dust jacket illustration by John Minton captures the colonial setting quite nicely, replete with thatched-roof veranda. Rear panel photo portrait of the author by Fayer. Dust jacket is now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
