This is the story behind the bulbous red nose, giant shoes, and shocks of red hair, of Larry Harmon, Bozo's creator. While a private in World War II, Harmon met Al Jolson who suggested that he become a "doctor of laughter". A decade later, trying to make it in Hollywood as an actor, Harmon auditioned to portray a character named Bozo The Capitol Clown. The rest, as they say, is history. This book, completed by Harmon shortly before his death at age 83, givesincredible stories of astronauts, cannibals, celebrities, assassins, and deed-sea divers---alll encountered in full Bozo regalia (with photos to prove it.) Bozo became a cultural icon, creator and star of one of the biggest children's televison franchises in history.
