About This Item

Los Angeles CA: Cowman Publications. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket. 1950. First Edition. Hardcover. Pages xviii, 327. Notes. Epilogue. Bibliography. Some scuff to front and back boards; the dust jacket is worn along the edges and corners with a stain across the back panel; now in an archival removable cover. In “Behind the Purple Curtain,” ex-Dominican monk and evangelical missionary, Walter Montano, examines the intolerance of Roman Catholicism in countries where it enjoyed a religious majority and received the strong support of the local and national governments. Montano's focus is mainly on Latin American and the influence of the Catholic Church in politics and civil government and it's "often-lethal intolerance of Protestants within Latin America". However he also examines the political prestige and influence the Catholic Church once held in countries such as Spain, Poland, Latin America and North America.; 8vo .
