About This Item
Liberal Republican San Francisco attorney appointed by U.S. President Truman to the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine: 6 Americans and 6 Britons. Having toured extensively, Crum put forth humanity, collective farms, and an Arab awakening. Up against that grew Arab suspicion of the West, forces of feudalism and entrenched privilege. From the U.S., State Department "secret diplomacy" took hold rather than a State Department focused on a Palestine based on a foreign policy. Author depicted as candid and honest, possessing warmth and "genuine humanity". End paper 2-color map with similar title page. Top light red page block dye. Jacket has edge wear, chips, surface damage.
