LooseLeaf. Belva (1830-1917) was a women's rights activist, teacher, pacifist, temperance leader, and lawyer. She was the first woman admitted to practice before the U. S. Supreme Court (1879). An ardent suffragist, she was nominated by the National Equal Rights party as the first woman candidate for the presidency (1884, 1888). 3 1/2" X 4 3/8 " .
