Sarah Bixby Was A Member Of The Bixby Family Of Long Beach; She Was An Intellectual And Active In The Estate's Administration And In Many Civic Groups And Historical Associations. Her Book "Adobe Days" Is A Noted Personal Work On Early California History. Inscribed By Smith To June Cleveland "Wise Woman And Good Friend" And Dated Nov 24, 1933. Cleveland Was The Manager Of Bullock's Book Department; She Gave A Year's Employment To Jake Zeitlin Before He Opened His Own Store, "That Gave Me Not Only An Opportunity To Sell Books, But Also A Lot Of People Who Became Important Friends To Me" Etc. Pages Unopened [Still Attached At Top], Just A Touch Of Wear But Edges Of Covers And Most Of Spine Browning With Age.
