It tells the story

of Sylvia, from her childhood to adulthood. Back when she was young, she lived a happy, playful days with her father, mother, her baby sister and Aunt Victoria. She remembers the radiant glow of sunshine and the beauty of nature as she reminisces the bits and pieces, feelings, photographs and fragrances. Her bright and sunny story is reflected all throughout her life.

Dorothy Canfield Fisher was born on February 17, 1879 and died on November 9, 1958. She was an educational reformer, social activist, and the most popular American writer in the beginning of the 20th century. She powerfully held the rights of women, racial parity, and life time education. Eleanor Roosevelt referred her as among the ten most influential women in the United States. She brought the Montessori method of child education to the United States, she led the country's first adult education program and helped form the literary senses by becoming a member of the Book of the Month Club selection committee from 1925 to 1951.

Dorothea Frances Canfield was the name for Dorothea Brooke of the book Middlemarch. She was born in Lawrence, Kansas, to James Hulme Canfield and Flavia Camp Canfield, an artist and author. From 1877 to 1891, her father was a professor at the University of Kansas with degrees from numerous historical studies, and the president of the National Education Association. He then became a chancellor of the University of Nebraska, president of the Ohio State University, and librarian at the Columbia University. Canfield Fisher is closely acquainted with Vermont, where she and her mother often visits to the family home and where she mostly spent her adult life. Vermont is also the setting for several of her novels.
