Dorpat: J.C. Schunmann, 1831. 1st Edition . Good Plus. 9.5 x 11.75 inches (24 x 30 cm). Volume II only of the two volume set. Half black morocco leather binding with marbled boards. The book has been professionally rebacked, spine has four raised bands with gilt decoration. Boards rubbed and have wear to corners. Bookplate to front pastedown endpaper (Phillips Library of Harvard College Observatory. Foxing throughout text and also to plates. All 13 plates are present with foxing and light staining. An important work on the establishment of the Struve Geodetic Arc, a 2,800 km chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea. Very scarce. Overall condition is Good Plus. Size: 9.5 x 11.75 inches (24 x 30 cm). Hardback. Printed pages: [2], 424, [4] + 13 plates
