About This Item

Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company Inc, 1964. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Plus in Very Good DJ. 8vo, Black boards gilt lettering. Slope to spine. DJ has a 1/2 inch tear at top of front panel and a 1/4 inch tear at top of rear panel. 324 pages. This is the sage of the men who manned the PT boats in the dark early days of the war with the Japanese. And it is the story of an odd triangle: Mark Hammond, a war correspondent; Wynn Savage, an insanely, compulsively brave PT boat officer; and Lud, the lovely girl who married Savage-out of pity-and then fell in love with Hammond.
