Clarendon: Clarendon Press, 1938. Very Good/No Dust Jacket. Clarendon: Clarendon Press, 1938. First Edition. Signed by by Lewis on front free endpaper to Fred M. Lege, Jr., Vice President and general manager of Lone Star Gas in Dallas with inscription "To Mr. Fred M. Lege, Jr. May this little book provean interesting introduction to the land of the cowboy. Willie Newbury Lewis."
Octavo; xv, 244pp. Beige cloth-covered boards with brown lettering and cowboy / horse illustration. Missing dust jacket. Boards a bit edgeworn with some smudges and toning to cloth. Front board opens shakily, but is holding. Binding is sound and pages unmarked.
A prior printing was issued by publishers then withdrawn due to rampant typos, with only 25 or so copies issued. This edition, printed in an edition of 1000 copies, is thus commonly accepted as the First Edition, with a 2000 copy second printing issued shortly after. [Six-Guns 1331; Herd 1330].
