Octavo; publisher's cloth in reddish-orange pictorial dust jacket retaining original price; 188pp. Moderate wear to jacket extremities including short closed tear at spine crown with brief tape repair, small label to title page gutter edge with subsequent offsetting to adjacent leaves; nevertheless, a Very Good and sound copy. Bookplate signed by the author laid in.

Hard science fiction novel set in the not-too-distant future (1980), where a duplicator can allow a physics professor to be in nine classrooms at once. Mayhem ensues. Originally published in a shorter version as "The Tree of Life" in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.
