First Edition 1944. Ex library with stamps on top and bottom text block, a perforated stamp near fore-edge margin title page, and a small stamp on front pastedown, else, no other markings. Age-toning to bottom and fore- text block, else, Pristine, no wear. No markings, tight binding, clean, white and bright. 6.5" x 9.5". Beige heavy-weave cloth with blue cloth backstrip, illustrated decorative gilt panels and lettering to spine, and gilt top text block. "James Whitcomb Riley (1849-1916) was an American writer, poet, and best-selling author. During his lifetime he was known as the "Hoosier Poet" and "Children's Poet" for his dialect works and his children's poetry. His famous works include 'Little Orphant Annie' and 'The Raggedy Man.'".
