A Very Good + to Near Fine copy of the first edition, first printing showing some general fading to the boards and spine in a Very Good + to Near Fine dust jacket showing some minor soiling, BEING A PRESENTATION COPY from Tilton to the renowned bibliographer Jacob Blank with signed presentation on the front free endpaper's recto reading as follows: "For Jacob Blanck // With many thanks // Eleanor M. Tilton". Loosely laid in is the first edition, first printing of An Addenda to the Bibliography, titled: " "Literary Bantlings:" Addenda to the Holmes Bibliography by Eleanor Tilton: // [Separate from the PAPERS of the Bibliographical Society of America] Volume fifty-one, First Quarter, 1957" issued a few years after the Bibliography was issued, written entirely by Tilton. This Addenda also is inscribed by Tilton to Blanck on the front cover as follows: "For the professional // from the amateur bibliographer // Eleanor M. Tilton" FURTHER TOGETHER WITH a manuscript letter from and signed by Tilton on Barnard College Columbia University Department of English stationary dated 25 July 1957 to Blanck beginning with the salutation "Dear Jake" enclosing the book, FURTHER TOGETHER WITH an undated letter from Tilton to Blanck TOGETHER WITH THE HAND-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE from Tilton to Blanck addressed to him at Harvard's Widener Library date stamped July 6, 1953 about her sending of the Holmes Bibliography, mentioning an error on page 326 and that error's presence gives her "chills" (ironically in a paragraph of letter in which she, herself makes an error which she has corrected in her hand) and noting that there two other errors, but that those errors do not lead to confusion. In the letter she also hopes that, in the event he writes any notice of the book, he will mention a few matters about it, including
