First printing of the first edition with the Scribner's A and colophon on the copyright page. Mustard colored cloth with black titles on spine and front cover with brown horse motif on front cover, frontispiece photograph of Will James and Big-Enough, illustrated with line drawings, 314 pages. Clean copy, solid binding, cloth on spine slightly tanned, tiny bump to top corners, former owner's name and address on front pastedown.
