Near Fine, Slight Bumping At Corners. Dj With Wear At Corers. Small Dampspot On Front Panel Of Dj And On The Front Cover Underneath. With A Signed Card To A Child "Dear --- The Next Time Your Grandma And Grandpa Come To Mexico I Hope You'll Be With Them. Think Up A Story To Tell Me- Sometimes I Can't Think Of Anything To Write- Ellis Credle", And With An Additional Inscription From Her Grandparents To The Child, Dated June 1964. Also With A One Page Typed Letter, Signed, Discussing Other Books She Has Published, A Mutual Friend, Family Health, Etc. ; With The Mailing Envelope From Zapopan, Jalisco, Indicating The Card In This Book Is From Her. The Grandparents Were Friends With Ellis Credle And We Have A Letter Of Hers Referring To The Enclosure Of Thi Slip For Them. Ellis Credle (1902-1998) Was An American Author Of A Number Of Books For Children And Young Adults, Some Of Which She Also Illustrated. Credle (Which Is Pronounced "Cradle") Is Best Known As The Creator Of The Acclaimed Children's Book Down Down The Mountain (1934) And Other Stories Set In The South. While Looking For A Publisher For Her Stories, Credle Was Put To Work Under The W.P.A. She Drew Reptiles For The American Museum Of Natural History And Painted A Series Of Murals For The Brooklyn Children's Museum. The Most Successful Of Her Work Has Been Called Inspirational, But Some Other Stories Were Controversial For Her Depiction Of African Americans.
