Photographs by Ruth Bernhard. -- Closed tear to bottom of the dust jacket that has been repaired with tape on the inside of the jacket. Light wear to the outer extremities of the jacket. -- "The Big Heart" is Van Melvin's first book. -- "He is most famous for creating the acclaimed film Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, which heralded a new era of black-focused films."-wikipedia. -- Signed by Van Melvin and Ruth Bernard on the title page.-- Typo page 35 first line of text (the word "pumping" should be "jumping". -- Condition.
