Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1941. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Near Fine/Very Good. David Hendrickson. 8vo. Pp. 145, followed by a one-page poem, "L'envoi". Frontis. by David Hendrickson, and with several more of his pen-and-ink illustrations throughout. Bound in blue cloth with a chimney vignette stamped in blue on front board, blue lettering stamped on spine. Just a hint of age-toning to cloth edges. In the dust jacket with a darkened spine, price of $1.75 intact on front flap. Include's the publisher's review slip, dated September 1940, soliciting clippings of reviews if they are published. First edition of the follow-up to Jacoby's Corners. Jake Falstaff was the pen name of Herman Fetzer (1899-1935), the Ohio bard who served as novelist, poet, and newspaper columnist. The illustrations and dust jacket are by David Hendrickson, the San Francisco Bay-area painter and illustrator who studied with Dean Cornwell. Dust jacket is now protected in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
