New York: The Macmillan Company, 1948. Second printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 4to. Unpaginated. Blue cloth with white lettering and a white snowflake on the front board, white lettering on the spine. Blue and white illustrated endpapers and pastedowns. Price of $2.50 on the bottom corner of the front flap of the jacket. Illustrated with black and white and with color illustrations. Signed by both authors without personalization on the half-title page. A beautifully done winter-themed children's book. The front board slightly bowed, edges of the boards rubbed and a small inscription on the free front endpaper; jacket with notable edge wear including loss to its spine panel, two archival tape repairs on the jacket's reverse.
Synopsis
The woodland animals were all getting ready for the winter. Geese flew south, rabbits and deer grew thick warm coats, and the raccoons and chipmunks lay down for a long winter nap. Come Christmastime, the wise owls were the first to see the rainbow around the moon. It was a sure sign that the big snow was on its way.
