New York: Random House, 1955. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Decorations by Edward Shenton. Near Fine in a Near Fine jacket, unclipped ($3.95), generally toned, lightly rubbed at the edges. Green buckram with black ink panels and gilt lettering on the spine and front board. Square and firmly bound with a green top stain, a few instances of marginalia. The first collection of Faulkner's hunting stories, including "The Bear.
Synopsis
William Faulkner was born in New Albany, Mississippi, on September 25, 1897. Faulkner had begun writing poems when he was a schoolboy and published a poetry collection in 1924 at his own expense. In 1950, Faulkner traveled to Sweden to accept the 1949 Nobel Prize for Literature. He died of a heart attack on July 6, 1962.
