Hodder & Stoughton, 1951. Hardcover. Good/Acceptable. 1951. 4th Impression. 223 pages. Pictorial dust jacket over red cloth. Black and white illustrations throughout with colour frontispiece. Binding remains firm. Pages and illustrations have light tanning and foxing throughout. Previous owner's inscriptions to front pastedown and endpaper. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Slight crushing to spine ends. Unclipped jacket has heavy edgewear with areas of loss, heavy tears, chips, and creasing. Water marking to spine. Pen marking to rear flap. Wear marks and foxing overall.
Synopsis
W. E Johns was born in Bengeo, Hertfordshire in 1893. During the First World War he served in the Machine Gun Corps, and then in the Royal Flying Corps. In 1918 he was shot down and captured in France. His first book, The Camels are Coming , was published in 1932. From the Trade Paperback edition.
