Paris, chez Janet, rue Jacques, No. 31, (1797).. Edition unknown, (1797), miniature book, 24mo, approximately 95 x 57 mm, 3¾ x 2¼ inches, French text, engraved hand coloured allegorical title page with Cupid, Beaute, Decence and 5 putti, foliage etc., 12 engraved HAND COLOURED PLATES, some allegorical, 8 pages of almanac at front, 8 at rear, dated from September 1797 to August 1798, plus 48 pages of little verses numbered thus: 12, [24], 13-24. Most of the verses are preceded by the name of a tune or 'Air' to which they should be sung, bound in dark olive green morocco, triple gilt ruled border with tiny corner ornaments to covers, gilt decoration to spine, no lettering or label, all edges gilt, gilt and orange floral pastedowns, no endpapers. Slightly worn at head of spine and corners, tiny chip at tail of spine, old paper strip used inside rear cover to recase contents in the binding, title page dusty in the margins, bookseller's label pasted to blank verso of title page, 1 or 2 pale fox spots, plates very nice. A good complete copy of an uncommon book, one copy in the French Libraries, none in WorldCat, none listed in Library Hub Discover, it is mentioned in a list of French Almanacs in the Journal général de la littérature de France, Volume 2, page 218.
