Leather bound in contemporary full brown calf, maroon leather spine label, gilt spine lettering. Vg condition. Prev. owner name penned in elaborate script on front endpaper. Moderate interior foxing, contents otherwise clean, no markings; leaves slightly stiff but not at all brittle; binding & hinges firm. Reconditioned leather smooth & glossy w/ mild rubbing to spine edges; spine lettering a bit dulled but fully legible. 324 pp. LACKS frontis. plate; both internal portraits for this Volume One (of George Washington and of Major General Nathaniel Greene) are present.
