Boston: Published by Abel Tomkins, 1852.. viii,[9]-404,[4]pp. Octavo. Heavily gilt decorated red cloth, a.e.g. Portrait frontis. Very shallow losses at crown and toe of modestly darkened spine, moderate foxing early and late, with inevitable discoloration to coated pale pink endsheets, otherwise about very good and sound. First edition of this somewhat early work by the editor, publisher and prolific author of pseudonymous ("Lieutenant Murray," etc) double-column dreadfuls for Gleason, a biography of his father, one of the founders of American Universalism. This binding is also found on copies with authorial presentations.
