About This Item
Toronto: Hunter-Rose, 1908. First edition. Original blue cloth, spine and front cover lettered in gilt. Inserted frontispiece & several illustrations in the text. Cloth quite rubbed, soiled, and worn, page edges browned; very good otherwise. A curious collection, including a lengthy (35 pages) autobiography, poems, and short prose pieces. The author describes how his family came to Quebec from England in 1829. Several poems are on Canadian subjects, such as "The Sugar Bush" and "The Pioneer of Ontario". WorldCat shows only one holding of this book - at the National Library of Scotland. The National Library of Canada shows a holding of four copies, all but one of them lacking the illustrations. A scarce book.
