Blue cloth covers with spine label in price clipped pictorial dust jacket. Spotting to page edges, contents clean, Dust jacket worn, slightly tatty. "About half the book deals with Bowers’ Antarctic trip. Extensive quotations from other sources, primarily Cherry-Garrard’s Worst Journey . . . (in which much of Bowers’ Pole Trip diary was first published) and much from Bowers’ weekly letters home. The letters are not easily found elsewhere."(Conrad) Third impression of the First Edition.
