(London): Chapman and Hall Ltd, 1928. Hardcover. Near Fine. First edition, second issue binding in gray cloth stamp in black on the spine and with slip tipped on at the title page noting the book is now printed by Chatto & Windus. Quarto. 215pp. Near fine with toning to the spine and light wear at the spine ends. Inscribed by Douglas the British author and naturalist: "For R.S.R. Fitter with the good wishes from Norman Douglas 11 Dec. 1945." Douglas has made an additional note on the copyright page under the "First printed, March 1928" statement that reads: "Privately printed, 1927." A book with a complicated printing history with the first edition sheets issued by a number of publisher over a many years with all preceded, as indicted by Douglas, by a privately printed edition. Woolf A25b.
