"The publication of Birds of The Northern Forest in 1966 confirmed the standing of James Fenwick Lansdowne as one of the leading bird artists of his generation. Though still a young man, he produced some of the finest portraits ever made of North American birds. Scientifically accurate, they are also works of art - original in concept, imaginative in treatment, full of action and life. In Birds Of The Eastern Forest: 1, fifty-two new bird paintings by Lansdowne are made available in superb full-color reproductions with accompanying text by the well-known ornithologist John A. Livingston." .
