Oversize hardcover, 7.5 x 10.25 inches, has beige buckram cloth-covered boards with gold spine lettering on a brown leather spine panel. Top page edges are gilt. Color frontispiece with tissue guard. 48 glossy color plates. Spine title: "Game Birds". Introduction by G. O. Shields (Coquina). 359 pages. Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked. Corners and spine ends lightly bumped and rubbed. Front cover has a small light stain. Text pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. A few pages have light handling smudges in margins. The tissue guard for the frontispiece has a few light spots of foxing; some have carried over to the title page, but not the plate. One plate, the Bartramian Sandpiper, has three pencil lines tracing the foot of a bird. The plate of the Purple Gallinule has a small one-quarter by one-half inch area at the inner edge where the surface of the image stuck to the opposite page and has been pulled away; bird not affected. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
