London: R. H. Porter, 1891. Book. Illus. by J. G. Keulemans. Near Fine. Hardcover. Signed by Author to Letter. First Edition. 8vo. pp. xviii, [14], 385 pages; chromolithographic frontispiece plate by Keulemans, and numerous additional colour plates also by Keulemans. Original blue cloth binding very good, light handling wear, gilt lettering to the spine and front board, very good. Contents clean and tight, no foxing or inscriptions There are two previous owner's of note. James Edmund Harting and Colonel Henry Wemyss Feilden. Inserted is a letter dated 1891 from the author, Borrer, to J. E. Harting. Harting was an naturalist a prolific author of many bird books. Secondly Feilden, was mentioned on p.236 of this book, but made a correction to..."Colonal Feilden, naturalist to H.M.S. "Alert" found ten (sanderline) on Sabine Island, in Smith's Sound... in pencil Feilden writes "No! .....1859-70. This is a superb association copy with a long letter to Harting who the author clearly knew well..
