About This Item
London: R.H. Porter, 1891. First Edition. Blue Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. N/a. xviii, 385, 8 (ads.). 1891. First edition. 6 Tissue-guarded colour chromolithographic plates and a colour fold-out map. Original publisher's blue cloth - gilt embossed to the spine and to the front board. The gilt to the spine and front board still very bright. A very good, tight, clean copy. Neat former owner' ink black name to the head of the reverse of the front endpaper. Some closed splitting to the front and rear inner hinges. The boards remain very firmly attached. The head of the spine bumped with a couple of associated very tiny chips to the outer cloth. A number of unopened pages. 4 leaves have been somewhat carelessly opened with small associated chips to the margins of around four leaves and several leaves with short associated tears to the outer margins - all expertly repaired. A very good, tight, clean copy of this charming first edition with lovely colour chromolithographs.
