Octavo, 318pp. Red cloth, title in gilt on spine. No printing in gutter of second to last page. Light foxing along top edge, not affecting text. Publisher's first state dust jacket, near fine, with $7.95 price on front flap and "7501" at bottom. Closed tear along bottom of spine and faint soiling to covers, otherwise bright. This was the first novel by Thomas Harris and the only book not to include the serial killer Hannibal Lecter.
