Thick 8vo in grey cloth lettered in gilt with tippedon example of blue-china plate. xx+ 309 pp. with index. Over 200 illustrations in color tint. Exhaustive, highly informative and interesting history of "blue-china" decorated pottery for tne American market. In the 19th century, English pottery makers began producing pieces for the American market that portrayed the new nation's history, historic events people and scenery; not particulary expensive to buy, these pieces grew extremely popular, particulary among New England farmers and townspeople. A tight, fine example in the original stiff-paper printed dust wrapper with the cut out that displays the cover illustration, shallow chipping head of spine.
