[Czech Republic, ca. 1977-1980?]. Octavo (21 × 16.5 cm). Original side-stapled printed card wrappers; spine cloth strip; 48 pp. of photo-reproduced and reduced typescript to rectos and versos. Very good. Samizdat edition of a theatrical version, referred to as a "strip" (pásmo) consisting of poems by Václav HrabÄ› (1940-1965). The preface is directed at theater directors and art directors of small clubs and performance venues, contains music recommendations (jazz!), and ends in the hope that HrabÄ›'s work will be widely performed and recited. It is signed with the initials Z. Å ., probably for ZdenÄ›k Å imanovský. Also included is a short biography of the author. HrabÄ› was a musician and writer, who in his short lifetime managed to produce one of the most important oeuvres inspired by American beat literature. He was influenced by blues and jazz, and in 1965 met Allen Ginsberg, with whom he recorded an interview. During his life, he only published in journals. In 1977, the Melantrich publishing house issued a selection of poems and lyrics using the same title and edited by JaromÃr Pelc. As of August 2020, KVK and OCLC only show the 1977 Melantrich edition.
