About This Item

New York: Grosset and Dunlap, 1945. First Edition. First printing. Octavo (19.5cm); green publisher's cloth with black lettering and portraiture, in white pictorial dustwrapper; 215pp. Spine, rear panel, and interiors toned; creasing, chipping, and soiling to dustwrapper; bright red top edgestain. Very Good.

Magic, mystery, and a little counterfeiting intrigue await the Bobbsey twins when they stay at their neighbor's strange mansion. "Laura Lee Hope" was a pseudonym covering several authors for this long-running series; the author for this story was most likely Harriet S. Adams, who also outlined many Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries. Title page notes that while this version was published in compliance with wartime regulations, it is complete and unabridged.
