About This Item

(New York): Viking, 1997. First edition. Fine in a fine jacket.. Signed first printing of the best-selling serial-killer thriller, first in a continuing series starring detectives Lincoln Rhymes and Amelia Sachs. Bones! The human body has so many of them. Deaver's breakout success came with this story of an eccentric private collector and his diligent efforts to acquire a great quantity of Bones, continually hindered by uncultured police detectives who simply do not understand the 'gentle madness' driving the gentleman amateur; and so, in the end, the power and financial resources of an institution defeat the lonely antiquarian who does, it is true, commit an awful lot of murders. Adapted into a 1999 film starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie, and again into a short-lived television series in 2020. 9'' x 6''. Original half black cloth with cream boards. In original unclipped ($22.95) dust jacket. Black endpapers. [8], 421, [3] pages. Signed by Deaver on title page. Bright, clean, and sharp overall.

Synopsis

In his most gripping thriller yet, Jeffery Deaver takes readers on a terrifying ride into two ingenious minds...that of a physically challenged detective and the scheming killer he must stop. The detective was the former head of forensics at the NYPD, but is now a quadriplegic who can only exercise his mind. The killer is a man whose obsession with old New York helps him choose his next victim. Now, with the help of a beautiful young cop, this diabolical killer must be stopped before he can kill again!
