New York - Toronto: Farrar & Rinehart, Inc., 1944. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good-. First edition with 'FR' symbol on copyright page. Green cloth with black lettering. Soiling on page 103, else interior is clean and unmarked. Pages bright. Dust jacket chipped at head of spine and corner of front panel; mild general soiling to rear panel; not price clipped ($2.00); in an archival mylar sleeve. 245 pages. Scarce in jacket. Another case, solved by the bibliophile-detective Henry Gamadge, this time involving a time-worn volume of Shakespeare which appears to be dooming its owners to violent deaths. The author, Elizabeth Daly (1878-1967), was reported to be Agatha Christie's favorite American mystery writer.
