Some minor extremity rubs, a couple of smudges to upper board. No prior ownership marks. Slipcase has wear along open edges and some splitting to a couple of joints. Overall near fine in a good slipcase.. Illustrations in color and black & white. The ambitious project, edited by Edith Wharton, to benefit civilians displaced by World War I. Contains essays, poetry, art, and music from nearly 60 contributors, including the likes of Sarah Bernhardt, Rupert Brooke, George Santayana, Margaret Woods, John Singer Sargent, Claude Monet, Agnes Repplier, W. B. Yeats, and more. Introduction by Theodore Roosevelt.<br /> <br /> Regular edition printed by Daniel B. Updike at the Merrymount Press, with extra title page engraved on wood by Rudolph Ruicka.
