This Limited Edition Book was published by Westinghouse to accompany the internment of the Time Capsule which they had prepared to be buried in conjunction with the New York World's Fair of 1939.It gives details for the preparation of the capsule, directions for its recovery, the contents of the capsule, a Key To the English Language so that generations far in the future who are unfamiliar with English may decipher the code to its location, and a guide to seeking metallic substances underground.
Being sold with this book is another, a small paperback also published by Westinghouse, titled "The Story of the Time Capsule". It encompasses What the Project Means, How the Time Capsule Was Constructed, What it Contains, How it Will Be Protected Against Vandalism, and How Word of Its Location Has Been Left For the Future. It is illustrated with several black & white photographs depicting those subjects.
Both of these books were issued in very small quantities.
There is a 4in by 6 in paper attached to the front endsheet which states:
"This is an authentic copy of The Book of Record of the Time Capsule. The edition is limited, and it is not expected that the book will ever be reprinted in its present permanent form. It is a message to the future, and should be carefully preserved. If you do not wish to keep it, please send it to a library, museum or other permanent repository.

BASILEAE: APUD NIC. EPISCOPIUM IUN., 1558. In 16. Dim. 17x12 cm. Pp. 32 (n.n.)+350+2 (n.n.). Numerose note manoscritte all'interno. Marca editoriale all'ultima carta. Titolo manoscritto al taglio inferiore. Opera collazionata e risultata completa. Legatura in pergamena. Non comune. Copertina in piena pergamena con…

Boston; 1834-1837: Ball and Marshal; John L. Sibly and Benjamin H. Greene, and William D. Ticknor. Small quarto. This comprises all three volumes, each in the original monthly parts fully illustrated throughout.. Volume I: 536 pages (Sept. 1834-August 1835). Voluime II: 520 pages (Sept. 1835--Aug. 1836) and Volume III, 486 pages (Oct. 1836-Sept. 1837). The publisher in 1836 gave Nathaniel Hawthorne his first job as an editor (though he was unnamed in the volumes and also unpaid). What is of particular interest to Hawthorne scholars begins in Volume II, pages 395-397 where Hawthorne has written: "The Duston Family". His account shows he knew Cotton Mather's Magnalia so he used that along with Peter Parley's Method of Telling About History and R.I. Munchk's The History of Haverhill, Massachusetts. Directly above the sketch on page 395 is an illustration from Parley which was copied and modified by the engraver. Samuel Goodrich or another of the officers of the company clearly directed Hawthorne to take…

Alcune incisioni all'interno. Timbro al verso del frontespizio di biblioteca tedesca privata "Bibliothek Mecklenburgh Ritter Landschaft". In ottime condizioni e completo. Description:
1817 Voyages of Tavernier PERSIA Tonkin Vietnam Constantinople Atlas MAP of ASIAIn the first part of the 19th-century, stories and tales of famous voyages were popular throughout the western world – tales of Captain Cook, Columbus, African voyages, and the East India Company occupied readers from all over. Perhaps the best source of these accounts was 'Bibliotheque Portative des Voyages' – an enormous collection of voyage and exploration accounts.
This atlas tome from the 1817 first edition contains views of the voyages of Jean-Baptiste Tavernier, an important 17th-century voyager to Persia and India. This tome describes Tavernier's time in Constantinople and Tonkin (Vietnam), noting the customs, costumes, and traditions of the people.
It should be mentioned that his volume contains 23 impressive illustrations including a full map of Asia, city view of Constantinople, a portrait of Tavernier, Tonkin funeral processions, and even an engraving of a venomous King cobra!
