Grant Richards The World's Classics series, 1904. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1904. No Edition Remarks. 438 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth with gilt lettering. Moderate foxing and tanning to pages. Moderate cracking to gutters and hinges causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has light tanning with noticeable splitting to joints and soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Synopsis

Thackeray contributed regularly to Fraser's Magazine, Morning Chronicle, New Monthly Magazine and The Times. His writings attracted first attention in Punch, where he satirized English snobbery. These sketches reappeared in 1848 as The Book of Snobs, stating in it that "he who meanly admires mean things is a Snob."
