About This Item

NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1992. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 1st printing. Cloth and boards. 321pp. Signed. When this, the first of Dunning's five Cliff Janeway detective novels was published, it was praised far and wide as a superb "bibliomystery," a murder mystery set in the world of collecting and selling rare books. It has stood the test of time in this bookseller's opinion and belongs in the top echelon of what is now a raft of modern bibliomysteries. The succeeding Janeway novels also satisfy the bibliomaniac. The dj for this title is one of my personal all-time favorites. Fine in fine dj. PLUS signed, limited copies of the booklets Dunning wrote for antiquarian book fairs: BOOKSCOUT (19pp, signed, fine, for Midwestern Book Fair in Chicago) and THE BOOKMAN'S LIMERICKS (20pp, signed, fine, for Seattle Antiquarian Bookfair). Both have on the back page the bookseller's label of Dinkytown Books, Minneapolis.
