Edition: First Edition., Binding: Contemporary black morocco with borders to boards, their turn-ins and spine elaborately blind and gilt dentelled and ruled; spine with 4 wide raised gilt decorated bands, compartments gilt central ornaments, with gilt lettered titles on two and four; brown pasted and free endpapers, all edges gilt. , Notes: Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet, (1771 – 1832) was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright and poet. Many of his works remain classics of both English-language and Scottish literature. Although primarily remembered for his extensive literary works and his political engagement, Scott was an advocate, judge and legal administrator by profession, and throughout his career combined his writing and editing work with his daily occupation as Clerk of Session and Sheriff-Depute of Selkirkshire. Scott was a member of the Highland Society and served as President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (1820–32).
