Size is octavo (8vo), 8.25"/21cm h. Bound in publisher's matte color pictorial wrappers. Xiv pp prelim material, 347 numbered pp, plus one blank. Prefaces to the 1979 and 1964 editions; 13 chapters. Notes, appendix (tea data tables), bibliography, index. Condition notes: a fragile copy, with textblock separated at p 96 and separating at 166; delicate handling required and rebinding would be beneficial. Spine creased, small tears to head and tail; sunning to spine and head of wrappers. Edges lightly soiled, top edge moderately foxed. Author inscription on title page to the late Robert D. ("Bud") Foulke - scholar of Joseph Conrad, and travel writer - from whose library this copy comes; Foulke's return address label is affixed to the head of first page. Else, interior unmarked. Furrowed Brow Books was established in 2020. The bookstore's owner, Paul Purman, grew up in an old farmhouse full of books. Paul had been providing online booksales since 2008 through several popular online sales venues. In 2021 Paul was accepted as a member of the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (IOBA), and graduated from the annual Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota).
Furrowed Brow Books' goal is to offer an eclectic selection, while providing specialty offerings in Eastern Orthodoxy and Byzantine civilization, theology, Christian mysticism, science fiction/fantasy (Inklings emphasis), and military history.
