This is the second and concluding book of the author's historical novel that centers on the true story of 10 year old Stephen Williams who was abducted by Abenaki Indians during their 1704 raid with French soldiers on Deerfield, Massachusettes. One hundred prisoners were taken, forty-nine village residents were killed, and several captives were killed in the march north to Canada. Originally published in 1905 by Little, Brown and Co. Original green cloth publisher's covers with spine lettering; the spine has some light vertical creases that look like they were present when bound. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with bright pages and no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. Aside from a small bookshop sticker on the lower edge of the rear panel, the dust jacket in similarly nice condition with no chips, tears, or markings. Appears to have been read once and shelved since new.; Old Deerfield Series Series; Frontis illustration; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 352 pages .
