New York, NY: Harper & Brothers, 1890. Book. Very Good. Decorative Cloth. 1st Edition. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Decorative blue/ green hard cover with gilt lettering to front and spine. Described for " Harper's Young People". Illustrated. First Edition, first state with the caption facing pp.110, in the snow , " celebrating the Fourth" and the canal illustration on the Verso of the contents page. This copy is VG . Exterior has slight rubs to spine ends, a bit of flecking to rear board. Gilt is bright. Covers are rich. Inside has a lined out PO signature and a tipped in "Howells Edition" ( from IU) to the front paste down. FEP has a neat PO signature from 1920. Text is unmarked, crisp, and tight with modest toning. .
