Athens: Ohio University Press, 1977. First edition. Historical fiction by Ohio author Brand Whitlock (1869-1934) set in Ohio two decades before the Civil War. The setting is Machochee, Ohio, a fictional town based on the author's hometown of Urbana. The unfinished manuscript was "lost" until the 1970s, and this is its first publication. Illustrated in black and white. Tan cloth, 273 pages. Very light bit of shelfwear at the spine ends, otherwise in fine condition - feels never read. No names or other markings. Very clean copy.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
