Yet the world of the brass band has been remarkably little documented, especially in the northern counties. This deficiency was realised by T.L. Cooper, who accordingly commenced to compile this history. The 168 pages of this book not only record much valuable social history which was in danger of being lost, but also contains many anecdotes epitomising the outlook of the dedicated Yorkshire bandsmen.
