London: The Religious Tract Society Book. Fair. Pumpkin Illustrative Cloth. First Edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Moral tale of bravery and cowardice about two brothers at school. Presumed first edition. Undated, but good conduct presentation label to front endpaper from "Post Office Telegraphs" to "J T Rawlins, Messenger No 31" is dated 1898. Cover has floral design in red, green and black painted on to front board and spine. Black and white illustrations to chapter heads and four black and white drawings. Publisher's illustrated catalogue to rear. Corners and spine bumped, some marking to boards, binding coming loose and foxing to page edges and endpapers, otherwise fair copy..
