Merivale, primarily a London and Broadway stage actor, worked with Helen Hayes in "Mary of Scotland" (by Maxwell Anderson) which ran for 248 performances at the Alvin Theatre, played the role of the martyred Prof. Sorel in the 1942 drama "This Land is Mine" and the notorious Prince Saul in Laurel & Hardy's "Nothing But Trouble", among many, many other roles.
